Nakar Quezon Youth Workshop on Environmental Care

Quezon, December 18-21, 2011 — The Center for Environmental Concerns collaborated with the Department of Social Welfare and Development – Quezon in conducting a four-day training for the youth to engage them on environmental issues. The training consisted of discussion on the Environmental and Cultural Situation in the Philippines and arts workshops.

Simultaneous workshops on theater arts, music-songwriting and visual arts were facilitated by volunteer-artists from the Concerned Artists of the Philippines, SINAGBAYAN (Sining na Naglilingkod sa Bayan) and KARATULA (Kabataang Artista para sa Tunay na Kalayaan). Outputs of the workshops were presented on the last day. Participants presented their response to challenges on issues of domestic and industrial trash, logging and mining activities, construction of dams and defense of ancestral domains.
