November 25 is International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (VAW). In memory of Mirabal sisters Patria, Minerva and Teresa assassinated in 1960 on orders of Dominican ruler Rafael Trujillo as well as all women and children victims of violence, a global movement snowballed to end political, domestic and industrial violence since 1981. Eighteen years later, the United Nation has called on all nations to sincerely mark the day and act against VAW.
GABRIELA Philippines analyzes violence to women as violence to children that it has then campaigned against VAWC (Violence Against Women and Children) upholding as well the vitality of creating a world fit for holders of tomorrow.
